There is no specific statutory format prescribed for Environmental Statements (aka EIA Reports), however they must contain the information specified in the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2011, which includes:
Description of the proposed development
Outline of the alternatives considered during the decision making process
Description of physical & cultural environmental aspects likely to be significantly affected by development
Likely effects of the development on the environment
Measures for avoidance or reduction of significant environmental impact
Non-technical summary of 1-5 above
Difficulties encountered during the process
When formulating a Scoping Opinion, the local planning authority must consult with relevant consultation bodies, however, it is not a requirement for the developer to undertake consultation in preparation of an EA.
